The traffic gridlock along Oshodi, Mile 2 – Apapa expressway seems to have become a permanent situation to people having one thing or the other to do along the road with no solution in sight to curb this recurring problem.

Oshodi – Apapa expressway is a 10 lane route that links to some major sea ports in Lagos where billions of naira is generated as revenue to the federal government purse.

The traffic situation especially at the mile 2 axis of the road has been most horrifying in recent times. Motorists and commuters spending 4 to 5hours on a journey not expected to have taken just 30 minutes.

The Islamic burial rite for Late Alhaja Abibat Mogaji, The Iyaloja-General of Nigeria, mother of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, former Governor of Lagos State and  national leader of Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN was held at the Lagos Central Mosque, Balogun, Lagos Island and her residence at Alausa, Ikeja while the interment was at the Ikoyi Muslim  cemetery..

The ex Governor in his narration of how his mother died stated that “On Saturday afternoon, she had her lunch. After that, she took her drugs and rested. While resting, death came and snatched my mother away. Immediately she died, I felt her void. 

“I will miss her lunch even when I am full. I am very happy that she is my mother. She is a very successful mother and a good leader. She departed this world peacefully without taking us through pains' .

The Fidau was conducted earlier in the day at the Central Mosque, Lagos Island, before she was buried at the Vaults and Garden Cemetery.
The corpse was brought into the Mosque at 11:24am, followed by a short sermon.
Alhaji Muritala Giwa, who delivered the sermon, urged Tinubu, Tambuwal, governors and the crowd at the Mosque, to always eschew violence and exhibit good attitude.
Giwa said: “As the late Iyaloja General of Lagos impacted positively on the life of people, everyone should emulate such act.”
Some of the dignitaries at the various events that led to the burial and Fidau prayers include Alhaji Aminu Tambuwai, Speaker, House of Representatives; governors Rauf Aregbesola, Adam Oshiomhole, Ibikunle Amosun, Abiola Ajumobi and Kayode Fayemi of Osun, Edo,Ogun, Oyo and Ekiti states, respectively; Chief Emeka Anyaoku, former Secretary of the Commonwealth; Mr. Femi Gbajabiamila, Majority Leader, House of Representatives; Mr. Femi Okunnu and Tom Ikimi.
Others were Mr. Femi Pedro, former Deputy Governor of Lagos State; Mr. Tajudeen Oluyole-Olusi, Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN chieftain; Chief Rasak Okoya; Mallam Aliko Dangote, President, Aliko Group of Company; Mr. Ademola Seriki, former Minister of State for Interior; Mr. Adeyemi Ikuforiji, Speaker, Lagos Houe of Assembly; Mr. Muiz Banire, former commissioner for environment Lagos State, and Amb. Musiliu Obanikoro.

Lagos Community of Pain: Residents, Orphanage cry out over bad roads

Provision of infrastructural facilities, especially road construction, is one of the reasons why the Lagos State Government has been receiving accolades from many residents since Governor Babatunde Fashola came into office. Indeed, roads construction or rehabilitation has become a common feature in virtually all the nooks and crannies of the state.

But while many Lagosians are enjoying this dividend of democracy, the reverse is the case with some communities such as at Ira Nla, Saliu Obodo and Akilapa streets of oke-Ira nla areas in Ajah, Eti oa Local Government Area where residents endure a lot of pains to move round the town, no thanks to the bad road which has forced many of them, especially workers, to relocate to other parts of the city.

Yes, I am a photojournalist but that is not all you need to know.

Often times, I have been asked what exactly led me into photography and events coverage.

Well, If I wake up to that question, my answer may be 'nothing' because my love affair with taking photos is sacred - a belief I hold dear.

On the flipside however, I may say from growing up in my teeny-weeny years, I loved seeing colourful drawings and I appreciated them very much even though I could not really interpret photos then.
